RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the people of this nation have willingly paid fees for an im-
proved highway transportation system, and
WHEREAS, the Federal Trust Fund created in 1956 has given the nation
the beginning of an Interstate Transportation System of the first class, and
WHEREAS, the draining off of this fund for purposes other than those
originally planned would be a breach of faith with those who have financed it; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the Lubbock City Council hereby urges Congress to continue the
Highway Trust Fund in its present status uding the funds only for highway pur-
poses as intended and as they have been in the past, the construction of interstate
and primary highways throughout the nation.
