WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council that the Canyon
Area within the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, should be dev-
eloped for public open space called the Canyon Lakes Project; and,
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation has contracted with the
City for matching funds to aid in development of said project; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to acquire for the Canyon Lakes Project
fee simple title to the land hereinafter described, owned by Thomas R.
Hudson et ux, Dorothy J. Hudson; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has caused appraisal to be made of said
land, and the value and total damages, if any, to the owner, and all others
whose interest may appear, for fee simple title to said land has been appr-
aised and the Council finds the price offered to be fair and equitable; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City of Lubbock acquire for the purposes of developing pub-
lic open space described as the Canyon Lakes Project fee simple title to the
land lying and being situated in Lubbock County, Texas, and described as
follows, t oTwit:
A tract of land out of Section 16, Block A,
Lubbock County, Texas and being more par-
ticularly described by metes and bounds on
the exhibit attached hereto.
THAT the owners, Thomas R. Hudson et ux Dorothy J. Hudson and all
others, if any, whose interest may appear, be offered through the Planning
Department the amount established as the fair market value and total damag
if any, for fee simple title to and acquisition of said land for the purposes
herein stated, for the use and benefit of the City of Lubbock, and unless ac-
cepted forthwith, the City Attorney is hereby authorized and instructed to in
stitute condemnation proceedings for and on behalf of the City of Lubbock to
acquire fee simple title to said land, as hereinabove described, for park
purposes.

Field notes on a 1.690 acre tract of land out of Section 16,
Block A, Lubbock County, Texas and being more particularly described
as follows;
Beginning at a 3/8 inch iron rod set in the North line of
Erskine Street and the Eavt line of Avenue "U" for the Southwest•
and beginning corner of this tract, whence the Southeast corner
of the Southwest 1/4 of Section..,16, Block A bears South 500'0 feet
and West 10.,5 feet;
Thence North 235#45 feet along the Bast line of Avenue "U"
to a point for the Northwest corner of this tract;
Thence South 7601604o" Fast 268.0 feet to a point for the
beginning of a curve;
Thence Southeasterly 58.73 feet around the are of a.curce to
the right whose radius is 124.5 feet to a point for the end of
the curve;
Thence South 49015' East 222.5 feet to a 3/8 inch iron rod
set in the North line of Erskine Street for the Southeast corner
of this tract;
Thence West 480.65 feet along the North line of Erskine
Street to the place of beginning.
Containing 1.690 Acres
