HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 022472Q - Joint Resolution - City & County Of Lubbock - To State, Water Systems - 02_24_1972o zz//oz P JOINT RESOLUTION Whereas the County of Lubbock has experienced continuous growth both in the City of Lubbock and the suburban areas around the City, and Whereas development within these suburban areas has been served by individual or subdivision water and sanitary systems and not by state or city approved systems; and Whereas the health of all citizens within the city and the adjoining sub- urbs is of major concern to the County and City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF THE COUNTY OF LUBBOCK AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: That the Legislature of the State of Texas be and is hereby requested to enact general legislation for all cities and counties or special legislat for the cities and counties in the population bracket with Lubbock County which will establish safeguards for these suburban citizens to prevent possible contamination of water systems by setting forth requirements for individual and subdivision water supplies; establishing enforceable standards for sanitation facilities and sewage disposal; directing in- spection and enforcement of these requirements by the appropriate state, county or local authority; That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent to the Governor of the State of Texas, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House of Representa- tives and members of the Lubbock and surrounding area delegation in the Texas Senate and the House of Representatives urging all such elected officials to support such legislation in the interest of the health, safety and continued growth of our suburban areas in the State of Texas.
