HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 021171A - Amending The Urban Renewal Plan, Coronado Urban Renewal Project - 02_11_1971I•sw RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR MEETING OF AND PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK CONCERN- ,ING THE AMENDING OF THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN FOR THE CORO NADO URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT AS REVISED AUGUST 31, 1960, AS SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED; AND PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF SUCH MEETING AND HEARING., WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Law of the State of Texas permits the mod fication of an urban renewal plan at an time provided if such modification affects the land use, among other plan elements, then much modification shall not be made until it has been submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission and to th Urban Renewal Agency and a report rendered to the City Council for reviewing and proceeding with a public hearing, and WHEREAS, a proposed amendment to the Urban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban Renewal Project, as revised August 31, 1960, as approved and adopted by the City's governing body on March 23, 1961, as subsequently amen- ded, was reviewed and approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb- ruary 4, 1971, and recommendations made to the City Council, and WHEREAS, said proposed amendment and recommendations have been re- viewed by the City Council of the City of Lubbock, and WHEREAS, it is the purpose and intent of the City Council of the City of Lubbock, on this date and at this time and place specified in the form of notice contained in Section 1 hereof, to hold a public hearing on the question of adopting a resolution to approve and adopt the proposed amendment to said urban renewal plan substantially in the form as set forth in the body of this resolution; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the following notice is hereby ordered to be published by the City Council of the City of Lubbock, said notice to be published in the Feb- ruary 18, 1971, February 25, 1971 and March_-4,`3' 1971, issues of the Lubbock Avalanche Journal (the official newspaper of the City of Lubbock) said notice to be in the following form, to -wit: "NOTICE OF MEETING OF AND PUBLIC HEARING BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK CONCERNING THE AMENDMENT OF THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN OF THE CORO- NADO URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT." "Pursuant to the provisions of the Urban Renewal Law of the State of Texas, notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Lub- bock will meet at the City Hall in the City Council Chamber on the 24th • r � S � day of March, 1971, at ten thirty (10:30) o'clock a.m. C.S.T. at which time and place said Council will conduct a public hearing on the question of and will consider and determine whether or not it will amend the Ur- ban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban Renewal Project by passing an ordinance substantially as follows: AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN OF THE CORONADO URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT, AS REVISED AUGUST 31, 1960, AS SUB- SEQUENTLY AMENDED. WHEREAS, the proposed change in the Urban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban Renewal Project, as revised August 31, 1960, as subse- quently amended, as hereinafter set forth, has been reviewed by and ap- proved by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Lubbock, ani WHEREAS, the proposed change conforms to the general plans of the City and is compatible to the existing and proposed land uses, the thoroughfare plan, and recreational and community facilities of the area, and WHEREAS, the proposed change should aid in the redevelopment of the project, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the amendment as set forth below to the Urban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban Renewal Project, as revised August 31, 1960, as subsequently amended, by and is hereby approved and adopte Amendment to the Urban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban Renewal Project, as revised, August 31, 1960 Section C2a(7) is hereby amended by deleting the words: "and subject to a conditional use permit granted by the Zoning Board of Adjustment with the approval of the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Lubbock, the following use may be permitted:" and by placing the word "Motel" on the list of permitted uses below then word "Nurseries". Section C2a(7) is further amended by adding the following permitte uses: "Armature winding, Automobile (new only) sales and service (may include body and paint shop, as accessory use, and outside display permitted) Barber and Beauty Shop Supply dealer Boat- and boat trailer sales and service (outside display permitted) Cafe supply dealer, fixtures, Electrical equipment repairs, Frozen food lockers, Laboratory, chemical, general analysis, Laboratory, optical, Laundry, Linemand towel supply service, Magazine Agency, Plumbing, heating, refrigeration or air conditioning business, Print shop, - - ,Printi4g=plant,= n _ spaper, Pump sales, Store fixtures sales, Wholesale house, sales .office and storage - no cotton storage. " Section C2b(4) (b) (1) (a) is hereby amended by deleting the words: "one hundred twenty (120) feet, " and substituting the words: "one hundred seven (107) feet, " for the words deleted. "At the aforesaid public hearing, each person will be given full opportunity to be heard, either in person or by his counsel, relative to the subject being considered, and likewise to present to and file with the City Council for its consideration, his written comments and recommen- dations relative to the subject, " CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOC ATTEST: BY J. The City Council shall meet on the date and at the time and place specified in the form of notice contained in Section 1 hereof and shall then hold a public hearing on the question of and consider and determine if it should adopt an ordinance substantially in the form set forth in said form of notice.
