HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 111369J - Support For President Nixon's Policy In Settlement Of Viet Nam Conflict - 11_13_1969c WHEREAS: President Nixon has stated to the people of the United States and to all the world his approach in our search for peace in Viet Nam; and, WHEREAS: We, the Mayor and City Councilmen, believe that the policy of our President will lead us to a just and lasting peace; and, WHEREAS: We further believe that this great Nation can show to our President and to the world that the majority is no longer silent but speaks, united and above partisan politics, to join in securing peace attained through unity and strength and not through appeasement; and, WHEREAS: We further believe that silence or efforts to discount the policy of our President only lends comfort and strength to the North Viet Nam; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and City Councilmen, hereby declare our support of President Nixon's policy in settlement of the Viet Nam Conflict and the securing of an honorable, just, and lasting peace for all mankind; and, I We further ask all citizens of the City of Lubbock to join us in this expression of support and faith and let the "silent majority" speak!
