RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Pioneer Natural Gas Company has made application to the
Lilroad Commission of the State of Texas for an increase in the gate .rate for
tural gas delivered for distribution to fifty-five (55) cities in its West Texas
,tribution system; and,
WHEREAS, a group of representatives from twenty-four (24) of these cities
towns met in Lubbock on Thursday, October 23, 1969, for the purpose of
isidering the feasibility of a united protest to the application for gate rate
rease made by Pioneer Natural Gas Company; and,
WHEREAS, it was the concensus opinion of the representatives of the
wenty-four (24) cities and towns that a steering committee from the group
resent be appointed subject to action of the respective governing bodies of
u.ch cities and towns for the express purpose of employing necessary personnel
nd taking all other necessary and appropriate actions to protest the application
)r the gate rate increase; and
WHEREAS, the permanent chairman of the steering committee has
ted a .representative from Lubbock be on this steering committee; and
WHEREAS the City Council is of the opinion and believes that such gate
ate increase should be protested because the request would be an unjust burden
n the citizens of the City of Lubbock as well as the citizens of all cities and
towns served by this company; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock, at a meeting with a
uorum present, and after notice as provided by law, considered all of the
amifications involved in the matter, and after careful deliberation, concluded
lat it was to the best interest of said City of Lubbock to join in the effort; NOW
'HEREFORE:
IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT Fred O. Senter, Jr. shall_ be the official
epresentative of the City of Lubbock as well as the Mayor and City Manager, act
s ex officio members of such committee and he is hereby authorized to act on
ehalf of the City of Lubbock on the steering committee and is further directed
nd authorized to participate in the protest of such gate .rate increase, joining the
ities and towns of this area as named in the application of Pioneer Natural Gas
ompany, Docket No. 428, before the Railroad Commission of Texas;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT the steering committee he.reinabove referred to be authorized and
empowered to act for the said City of Lubbock, acting in conjunction with the Legal
Department, of the City of Lubbock and that the City of Lubbock binds and obligates
itself to pay its proportionate share of the costs involved in said proceedings.
