HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 072469L - Council Support Of TX Water Plan - 07_24_1969RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock, along with the South Plains and the entire State of Texas, has experienced a substantial increase in population and prosperity and growth in industry, business and finance; and WHEREAS, the continued growth, expansion and prosperity of the State of Texas, and particularly West Texas, depends upon the assurance of water re- sources to make an adequate water supply available to its growing cities, its expanding industry and its irrigated agricultural industry; and WHEREAS, the Texas Water Plan has been developed which is designed to meet this need for adequate water when approved by the people of the State of Texas; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock supports the Texas Water Plan developed by the Governor's Committee of 500 and urges all voters of the State of Texas to add ftheir support to assuring adequate water for the growth and prosperity of Texas by their vote in favor of Constitutional Amendment No. Two, on August 5, 1969, which will authorize the Texas Water Development Board to issue bonds, which will be repaid by the water users, to finance Texas' share of the cost of the Texas Water Plan.
