WHEREAS, local municipal government is primarily concerned with promotion
of the peace, security, health and general welfare of the citizens of the community,
and
WHEREAS, this promotion requires vigilence from sun -up to sun -set and back
to dawn and does not happen without the services rendered by a large group of
employee fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock has become increasingly
aware of the fact that our own local government is served by a group of dedicated
men and women who are directly interested in preserving the peace, providing
security, enhancing the health and improving the welfare of their fellow citizens
by promoting effective and efficient service throughout the City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council is further aware that these dedicated men and
women, charged with the duty and responsibility of maintaining and operating the
various segments and departments of our City Government, are frequently
unrecognized for their faithful performance of a job well done, and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that a public expression of thanks
and appreciation should be extended and offered to all the municipal officers and
employees responsible for the splendid services enjoyed and accepted by the citizen
of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT on its behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Lubbock that each and every
employee of the City of Lubbock be and is hereby extended a heartfelt thanks for a
job well done during 1968, and that greetings of the Season be further extended to
all, together with a collective wish for a Happy New Year.
