WHEREAS on the 27th day of June, 1968, a Resolution was adopted by the
City Council expressing policy of the City Council regarding collection of delin-
quent tax on automobiles; and
WHEREAS, there is apparent confusion in the minds of the public regarding
the position of the City Council and the legality of summary, seizure and sale of
automobiles; and
WHEREAS the City Council has found that approximately 75 per cent of the
people pay this tax and the City Council believesthat all people should be treated
equally, and
WHEREAS the City Council is obligated to see that such property is assessed
for taxes; and that such property taxes be collected; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,
THAT the intent of the City Council in its June 27, 1968, Resolution was to
direct the City Tax Assessor and Collector to employ all legal remedies to
affect collection of said automobile tax, including the legal remedy of summary
seizure and sale of automobiles when necessary.
