HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 041768B - Special Election Ordered - 04_17_1968RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it appears that the general election held in the City of Lubbock on April 16, 19 68, that no candidate for the offices of Mayor, Council- man Number 2, Councilman Number 3 (unexpired term), and Councilman Number 4, received a majority of the votes cast for said offices in said election and WHEREAS, it is provided by the Charter of the City of Lubbock that the City Council shall immediately, upon declaring the official results of the regular election, issue a call for a run-off election for the place to which no one was elected, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT pursuant to the Charter provision of the City of Lubbock that a special election shall be and is hereby ordered to be held on the fourth Tuesday following April 16, 1968, the same being May 14, 1968, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Councilman Number 2, Councilman Number 3 (unexpired term), and Councilman Number 4, for the City of Lubbock, and further ordering that the names as shown below be placed on the ballot in said special election by virtue of their being heretofore certified as having received the highest number of votes cast for the places indicate) at the regular election held in the City of Lubbock April 16, 1968: MAYOR Y W.
