HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2371 - Support Upgrade - TDHPT - State Highway 114 - 07_10_1986Resolution #2371 July 10, 1986 Agenda Item #16 HW:da RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock requested the State Highway Commission in 1972 to continue upgrading State Highway 114 to a four -lane divided highway; and WHEREAS, a fully -developed major traffic artery along the route of State Highway 114 continues to be of the utmost importance to the citizens of the City of Lubbock as well as to citizens of other Texas communities located along that route; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock, in addition to requests heretofore made, urges the State Commission of Highways and Public Transportation to continue its upgrading of State Highway 114, to a four -lane divided roadway, the entire route from Dallas, Bridgeport, Jacksboro, Seymour and Lubbock to the New Mexico state line. SECTION 2. THAT said City Council of the City of Lubbock pledges its cooperation with the State Commission of Highways and Public Transportation in securing the necessary right-of- way within the Lubbock area to accomplish the foregoing objective.
