HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2327 - Appoint Charter Study Committee - 05_22_1986Resolution #2327 May 22, 1986 Agenda Item #25 DGV:da RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock desires to establish a Charter Study Committee to consider and recommend amendments to the City of Lubbock Charter; and WHEREAS, it is desired that such amendments be limited to the follow- ing general categories of potential changes: --conform the Charter to existing state and federal law in order to eliminate apparent conflicts; --correct grammatical and typographical errors contained in the Charter; and --recommend changes to expedite the handling of routine adminis- trative matters in order to provide greater efficiency in government; and --recommend any other appropriate changes to make our government more effective and up to date. WHEREAS, said Charter Study Committee shall consist of eleven members selected by the City Council to represent a cross-section of the population of the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT there be established a City of Lubbock Charter Study Committee consisting of eleven members, which Committee shall consider and recommend amendments to the existing City of Lubbock Charter coming within the above -named general categories to the Lubbock City Council. Said recommend- ations shall be completed by one year from the date of passage of this Resolution and upon submission of such recommendations to the Lubbock City Council, the Charter Study Committee will have completed its task and will become inactive.
