HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 102766L - COL Notifies Highway Department Of Interest In Property North & South Of 4Th St. - 10_27_1966 GAS cic RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock heretofore on the 13th day of July, 1961 passed a resolution indicating that certain lands acquired by the State of Texas abutting Fourth Street and Quirt Avenue were not needed by the City of Lubbock; and WHEREAS, it has been reported to the City Council that certain of the lands heretofore not needed are now needed and will continue to be needed for the use of citizens as a road; and WHEREAS, it appears that the State of Texas is contemplating the disposal of certain of these lands as being no longer needed for highway purposes or for use of citizens as a road; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the State Highway Department be and is hereby notified that the City of Lubbock has a vital interest in the retention of the following pro- perty lying North and South of Fourth Street immediately East of Quirt Avenue in the City of Lubbock, such property being needed as an integral part of its public street system. Such lands are described by metes and bounds as follows, to-wit: TRACT NCl ' 1 A tract of land out of the South half of the Southwest Quarter (SW1/4) of Section Two (2),�Block A, in Lubbock County, and being described as follows: BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Section 2, Block A. on the highway centerline at Station 66 + 34; THENCE North along the West line of Section 2 a distance of 100 feet; THENCE East along a line 100 feet from and parallel to the South line of Section 2, Block A, a distance of 466 feet; THENCE South 870 081 East 200. 2 feet to a point 90 feet from and at right angles to Highway Station 73 + 00; THENCE South 840 171 East 301. 5 feet to a point 60 feet from and at right angles to Highway centerline Station 76 + 00; THENCE East along a line 60 feet from and parallel to the South line of Section 2 a distance of 24 feet to the East property line; THENCE South along the East property line a distance of 60 feet to the highway centerline at Station 76 + 24; THENCE West along the South line of Section 2 a distance of 990 feet to the point of beginning, containing 2. 056 acres. TRACT NO.•` 2 A tract of land out of the North half of the Northwest Quarter (NW 1/4) of Section Four (4), Block O, in Lubbock County, Texas, and being described as follows:: BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Section 4, Block O, on the highway centerline at Station 66 + 34; THENCE South along the West line of Section 4, a distance of 100 feet; THENCE East along a line 100 feet from and parallel to the North line of Section 41, Block O, a distance of 466 feet; THENCE North 870 081 East a distance of 200. 2 feet to a point 90 feet from and at right angles to a highway Station 73 + 00; THENCE North 840 171 East a distance of 301. 5 feet to a point 60 feet from and at right angles to highway Station 76 + 00; THENCE East along a line 60 feet from and parallel to the North line of Section 4, Block O a distance of 684 feet to the East property line; THENCE North along the East property line a distance of 60 feet to the highway centerline at Station 82 + 84; THENCE West along the North line of Section 4, and the highway centerline a distance of 1650 feet to the point of beginning, con- taining 2.965 acres, SECTION 2. Be it further resolved that the City Secretary mail a certi- fied copy of this Resolution to the Texas Highway Department.
