M. in special session in compliance with the charter rovision, at the rekular meeting place of the Council in the City Hall, in the Ci y of Lubbock, with the following members present to-wit: Mayor Max Tidmore and Councilmen W. E. Alderson, Jack Kastman, Rolan Simpson, and W. E. Medlock I On motion of Medlock , seconded by Alderson it is unanimously carried that the returns f the general City election, held April 5, 1966, for the election of a Mayor and two Councilmen for terms as provided by law, be opened and canvassed, and t e results thereof declared therefrom; and said returns having been duly canva sed, it is found that the votes for the various candidates are as follows: (Coup ilman Rolan Simpson abstained from vesting on this motion. ) CANDIDATES FOR MAYOR: VOTES RECEIVED: Rolan Simpson 4390 Write in Votes: W. Middleton 3902 W. R. "Bill" Watkins 525 John H. Johns 1889 Ray J. Diekemper, Jr. 4340 Write in Votes.- Sam Earl 1 Mrs. Hill Uggett 1 Albert Ohlenbusch 1 W. B. Bradshaw 1 Dr. R. A. "Dub" Rogers, write in candidate for Mayor, received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Mayor of the City of Lubbock and that James E. Granberry received a majority of the votes cast for the office of City Councilman of the City of Lubbock, Place Number 1; and that no candidate received a major- ity of the total sum of votes cast for the office of City Councilman of the City of Lubbock, Place Number 3 and that each of said persons named receiving such majority of votes was duly elected by the qualified voters of the City of Lubbock: IT IS THEREFORE FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY C OUNC IL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT W. D. ,"Dub" Rogers was duly elected Mayor of the City of Lubbock and that James H. Granberry was duly elected Councilman, Place No. 1, and that Roy A. Middleton and Ray J. Diekemper, Jr. received the highest number of votes for the office of Councilman Place Number 3 in said election to which no one was elected by a majority of all votes cast for the office of Councilman, Place Number 3 in said election held April5, 1966. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON MOTION OF McOlock a seconded by Alderson , this 6th day of April , 1966, by the following vote; COUNCILMEN VOTING -"AYE": Mayor Max Tidmore and Councilman W. E. Alderson, Jack Kastman, and W. E.
