HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 040666A - Order & Notice - Special Election - Place 3 Councilman, Held 5/3/66 - 04/06/1966 FOS:bw RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it appears that at the general election held in the City of Lub- bock on April 5, 1966, no candidate for the office of Councilman, Place Number 3 received a majority of the votes cast for said office of Councilman, Place Number 3 in said election; and WHEREAS, it is provided by the Charter of the City of, Lubbock that the City Council .shall immediately, upon declaring the official results of the regular election, issue a call for a run-off election for the place to which no one was elected, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT pursuant to the Charter provision bff the City of Lubbock that a special election shall be held where no one is elected at the general election it Is.hereby ordered that a special election be held on the fourth Tuesday following April 5, 1966, the same being May 3, 1966, for the purpose of electing a Councilman, Place Number 3 for the Ctty of Lubbock and further ordering that the names of Roy A. Middleton and Ray J. Diekemper, Jr, be placed on the ballot at said special election by virtue of their being heretofore certified'as having,received the highest number of votes cast for the place of Councilman, Place Number 3 of the City of Lubbock at the regular election held in the City of Lubbock April 5, 1966. Said special election shall be held and the polls shall be opened from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.', and all electors shall vote in the voting precinct of their residence. ELECTION NOTICE The Chief of Police is hereby directed to post a properly executed copy of this Order and Notice of Election at the following places: Lubbock County Courthouse (Old) Carroll Thompson Junior High School J. T. Hutchinson Junior High School O. L. Slaton Junior High School Chris Harwell School Ella Iles Elementary School Zenith Avenue Fire Station Sam Arnett School Central Fire Station Jackson Elementary School Matthews Junior High School Rush Elementary School Lou Stubbs Elementary School Maedgen Elementary School Wheelock Elementary School Parsons Elementary School P. F. Brown Elementary School Atkins Junior High School being the places where this election will be held. Said notices will be posted at least twenty (20) days before said election and the officerposting the notices shall make due return showing such posting, in accordance with this Order. The City Secretary shall serve a duly certified copy of this Election Order upon each of the election judges and alternate judges named in this Order. Such services shall be made by registered mail within twenty (20) days after the date of this Order. SIGNED AND EXECUTED in the City Hall at Lubbock, Texas, this the 6th day of April , 1966.
