HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 042265A - Appointment Of Mr. Kennedy N Clapp As Chairman Emeritus Of Park & Rec Commission - 04_22_1965 - OqVAT FOS•bw RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Lubbock, adopted December 27, 1917, provided for a Park Commission; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp was appointed by the City Commissio in 1926 as a member of the Park Commission as one of the first members of this Commission; and, WHEREAS., Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp has served continuously on this Commission for 39 years and has been Chairman of the Park Commission for a period of 33 years; and, WHEREAS, it is recognized that during the 39 years of service rendered to the City of Lubbock and its citizens by Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp the Parks and Parks System within the City of Lubbock have developed because of his know- ledge and love for the City of Lubbock; and, WHEREAS, because of the long and distinguished service rendered to the City of Lubbock and its Parks and Recreation facilities Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp has become known as "Mr. Park" of the City of Lubbock; and, WHEREAS,, it is the desire of the City Council that the City of Lubbock continue to enjoy the benefits derived from the knowledge and experience of Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp without imposing on his health, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City Council on behalf of the Citizens of Lubbock desiring to honor Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp for his long and conscientious service and his major contribution to the growth and development of the City of Lubbock and mor particularly to its Parks hereby appoints Mr. Kennedy N. Clapp as Chairman Emeritus of the Park and Recreation Commission of the City of Lubbock with privileges to attend and participate in all meetings of said Commission.
