WHEREAS, it appears that at the general election held in the City of Lub-
bock on April .', 1964, no candidate for the office of Mayor received a
majority of the votes cast for said office of Mayor in said election; and
WHEREAS, it is provided by the Charter of the City of Lubbock that the
City Council shall immediately, upon declaring the official results of the
regular elections issue a call for a run-off election for the place to which no
one was elected, NOW THEREFORE.-
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT pursuant to the Charter provision of the City of Lubbock that a
special election shall be held where no one is elected at the general election
it is hereby ordered that a special election be held on the fourth Tuesday
following April 7, 1964, the same being May 5, 1964, for the purpose of electing
a Mayor for the City of Lubbock, and further ordering that the names of W. D.
"Dub" Rogers and Max Tidmore be placed on the ballot at said special election
by virtue of their being heretofore certified as having received the highest
number of votes cast for the place of Mayor of the City of Lubbock at the
regular election held in the City of Lubbockl April 79 1964.

SPECIAL ELECT`ION ORDER
I, Jack F. Strong, Mayor of the City of Lubbock, Texas, by- virtn"e of the
authority vested in me by law, and according to Garter provisions and the Texas
;Election Code, do hereby order that a special run-off election be held in the
;City of Lubbock, Texas, on the 5th day of May, 1964, being the First Tuesday of
:said month, for the purpose of electing the following officer of said City:
MAYOR
Said special run-off election shall be held at the following places in the
City of Lubbock, being designated as voting precincts and voting places as follows:

Voting Precincts 1 through 18, inclusive, are delineated on the attached
map which has been duly adopted by Ordinance No. 4810 of the City Council on
February 19, 1964, said Map being made a part of this Order and Notice of Election.
Said special election shall be held and the polls shall be opened from 7:00 A.M.
to 7:00 P.M., and all electors shall vote in the voting precinct of their
residence.

presiding judges respectively, and are hereby designated and authorized to hold
said election at the -place,-indicated;

Each Presiding Judge, herein appointed, is hereby authorised and directed to
appoint not less than two clerics and as many additional clerks, but not to exceed
a total of eight clerks, as he deems necessary for the proper conduct of the election.
'The Alternate Presiding Judge herein appointed shall serve as the Presiding Judge
in the event the regularly appointed Judge is unable to serve at this election, and
shall be appointed by the regularly appointed Presiding Judge to serve as one of .the
clerics in the event the election is conducted by the rggularly appointed Presiding
Judge:
ELECTION NOTICE
The Chief of Police is hereby directed to post a properly executed copy of
this Order and Notice of Election at the following places:
Lubbock County Court House (Old)

J.S. Hutchinson Junior High School
O.L. Slaton Junior High School
Chris Harwell School
Ella Iles Elementary School
Zenith Avenue Fire Station

being the places where this election will be held. Said notices will be posted at
least (20) days before said election and the officer posting the notices shall make
due return showing posting, in accordance with this Order.
The City Secretary shall serve a duly certified copy of this Election Order
Capon each of the election judges and alternate judges named in this Order. Such
services shall be made by registered mail within twenty (20) days after the date
of this Order.
SIGNED and exectued in the City Hall at Lubbock, `texas, this the 8th day
of April 1964.
