* ' CANVASS OF VOTES IN GENERAL ELECTION

HELD, APRIL 7, 1964
BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on the 8th day of April, 1964, the City Council
of the City of Lubbock met at 9:00 ) o'clock, A. M. in special session
in compliance with the charter provision, at the regular meeting place of the
Council in the City Hall, in the City of Lubbock, with the following members
present to-wit:
Mayor Jack F. Strong and Councilmen W.E. Alderson. W.C. O'Hara, Rolan Simpson
and Marvin McLarty, Jr.
On motion of�,douncilman McLarty , seconded by j6ouncilman O'Mara it is
unanimously carried that the returns of the general City election, held April 7,
1964, for the election of a Mayor and two Councilmen for terms as provided by
law, be opened and canvassed, and the results thereof declared therefrom; and
said returns having been duly canvassed, it is found that the votes for the variou
candidates are as follows:

And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by
law and that no candidate received a majority of votes of the total sum of votes
cast for the office of Mayor of the City of L ubboc% and that Jack Kastman recei d
a majority of the votes cast for the office of City Councilman of the City of
Lubbock,::Pl.gce Number 2; and that W. E. Medlock received a majority of the
votes cast for the office of City Councilman of the City of Lubbock, Place Numb r
4; and that each of said persons receiving such majority of votes was duly elect
by the qualified voters of the City of Lubbock:
IT IS THEREFORE FOUND,, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CIT
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT Jack Kastman was duly elected
Councilman, Place Number 2, and that W. E. Medlock was duly.elected Council
man, Place Number 4, and that W. D. "Dub" Rogers and Max Tidmore received
the highest number of votes for the office of Mayor of the City of Lubbock in
said election to which no one was elected by a majority of all votes cast for the
office of Mayor in said election held April 7, 1964.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON MOTION OF"` McLarty seconde
by ,' O'Mara this 8th day of April 1964, by the
following vote:

O'Mara, Simpson, and McLarty.
