HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 1633B - Canvass Votes - Special City Election - Held 04_07_1984 - 04_12_1984DGV:js RESOLUTION RESOLUTION 1633-B - 4/12/84 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL CITY ELECTION HELD ON THE 7TH DAY OF APRIL, 1984. BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on the 12thday of April, 1984, the City Council of the City of Lubbock met at 9:30 o'clock, A_M., at the regular meeting place of the City Council in the City Hall of the City of Lubbock, with the following members present, to -wit: ALAN HENRY GEORGE W. CARPENTER E. JACK BROWN M. J. "BUD" ADERTON JOAN BAKER On Motion of Councilwoman Baker , seconded by Councilman Caraenter� it is unanimously carried that the returns of the Special City Election held April 7, 1984, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of the City of Lubbock the question of developing the oil and gas mineral estate underlying the public parklands of the City of Lubbock for approval or rejection be opened and canvassed, and the results of the election declared therefrom; and said returns having been duly canvassed, it is found that the vote upon the proposition was as follows: PROPOSITION "SHALL the City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas, grant such oil and gas leases or enter such contracts as it deems advisable for the development of the oil and gas mineral estates underlying the public parklands of the City of Lubbock, so long as the City Council allows no oil and gas well to be drilled within the thickly settled portion of the City nor within three hundred feet of any private residence." FOR: 12,813 AGAINST: 3,507 And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law; NOW THEREFORE: IT IS THEREFORE FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: s THAT a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Lubbock voting in said election are in favor of said Proposition; therefore it is declared that said Proposition is approved PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON MOTION OF Councilwoman Baker , SECONDED BY Councilman CarpenteV this l2th day of April, 1984.
