HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 071262A - Specials Thanks To Mayor Holweg Of The City Of Hannover, Germany - 07_12_1962 , � �� ,�/24/62 RESOLUTION �A WHEREAS, the torch of personal freedom burns bright before those citizens of the world'who hope for world peace as well as economic and social advancement; and, WHEREAS, the torch of personal freedom bur�is brighter when there is better understanding and communication between the.citizens of different nations; and, WHEREAS, it is the duty and obligation of;all duly elected officials in those countries of the "Free World" to fan the flames of the torch of personal freedoms in order that it may burn brighter; and, WHEREAS, for the past several years there has been close communication and understanding between the officers of the City of Lubbock and the officers of the City of Hannover, Germany, which has brightened the hopes of the citizens of these sister municipalities; and, WHEREAS. the flame of the torch of personal freedom was made to burn brighter still because of the hospitality and cordial welcome by the Mayor and officers of the City of Hannover, Germany, extended to the Mayor of the 'City of Lubbock, Jack F. Strong, and his wife, during the month of June. 1962, when the Mayor of the City of Lubbock visited the City of alrla6over; and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission as the duly elected governing body of the City of Lubbock to express.its appreciation to the people of the City of Hannover, Germany, and the officials of such City for the cordial welcome and hospitality extended to the Honorable Jack F. Strong, Mayor of the City of Lubbock, white visiting in their City; NOw!THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; THAT the City Commission as duly elected officials of the City of Lubbock, Texas, U.S.A. acknowledges its grateful appreciation to the citizens and officials of Hannover. Germany, for the 'warm hospitality and cordial welcome extended to Mayor Jack F. Strong, and his wife during their,visit jin the City of Hannover and that special appreciation be acknowledged, expressed and extended to the Honor- able Mayor Holweg of the City of Hannover forbAi personal hospitality which has brought a better understanding and broadened the, I ommunication between the City of Lubbock, Texas, U.S.A. and its sister city, the City of Hannover. Germany, and thereby contributed to keeping the torch of 11pejsor a freedom burring bright. Be it further resolved that the City Secretiary be and is hcmby requested to mail a copy of this Resolution to Mayor Holweg of Hannover, Germany, and the President of the United States of America.
