FOR THE CORONADO.URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT AREA TO THE PLANNING
AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK AND THE URBAN
RENEWAL AGENCY OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK FOR THEIR REVIEW AND
RECOMMENDATIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF

HEARING ON THE QUESTION OF ADOPTION OF SAID PROPOSED URBAN
RENEWAL PLAN; AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF SAID PUBLIC
HEARING PURSUANT TO SAID NOTICE.

7 WHEREAS, the personnel of the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of.
Lubbock has prepared a proposed Urban Renewal Plan for that area known as
the Coronado Urban Renewal Project Area, located in the City of Lubbock,
Texas, and said plan has been submitted to the City Commission of the City
s of Lubbock by the Executive Director of said Urban Renewal Agency; and,
WHEREAS, the said proposed Urban Renewal Project Area, as defined
and described in said Plan includes that area designated by the City Commission
as the Coronado Urban Renewal Project Area in Resolution adopted December 5,
1957, together with an additional parcel or area bounded on the South by exist-
ing E. 28th Street, bounded on the Northeast by Southeast Drive and on the
Northwest by E. 28th Street, as relocated and proposed in said Urban Renewal
Plan, which additional area or parcel is within that certain area heretofore

defined and described as the Yellowhouse Urban Renewal Area by Resolution adopted by the City Commission on such date of December 5, 1957; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock deems it
' expedient and in the public interest to submit said Urban Renewal Plan to the
Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Lubbock and the Board of
10-7 Commissioners of the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Lubbock for their
review and recommendations; and,

WHEREAS, the City Commission further finds that a notice of public
hearing on the proposed adoption of said Urban Renewal Plan should be given
as required by the Urban Renewal Law of Texas; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED;BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the Urban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban
Renewal Project Area as prepared and submitted to the City Commission by the
Executive Director .of the Urban Renewal Agency,of the City of Lubbock BE
and the same is hereby submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission of the
City of Lubbock and the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Lubbock for their
review and recommendations as to the conformity of said Urban Renewal Plan
with the General Plan for the development of the City as a whole. Said Agency
and Planning Commission shall submit their written recommendations with f
respect to said Urban Renewal Plan to the City Commission within thirty (30)
days after the receipt of said Plan for review.
SECTION Z. THAT the following notice of public hearing on the proposed
adoption of an Urban Renewal Plan for the Coronado Urban Renewal Project

Area shall be published three (3) times in a newspaper having general circulation
in the City of Lubbock, Texas, as follows, to-wit:
"NOTICE OF HEARING ON PROPOSED ADOPTION OF AN URBAN
RENEWAL PLAN FOR THE CORONADO URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT AREA.

"Notice is hereby given by the City Commission of the City of Lubbock, I�
Texas, that a public hearing will be held in the City Commission Room on the I�
first floor of City Hall in Lubbock, Texas, at 10:00 o'clock, A. M. , C. S. T.
on the 8th day of May, 1958, for the purpose of consideration of the question I�
of whether or not a proposed Urban Renewal Plan will be adopted if the City
Commission finds as follows: j
(1) A feasible method exists for the location of families or I
individuals who will be displaced from the Urban Renewal
Area in decent, safe and sanitary dwelling accorrrno.dations
within their means and without undue hardship to such families
or individuals;
(2) Said Urban Renewal Plan conforms to the General Plan of the
City of Lubbock, Texas, as a whole.
(3) Said Urban Renewal Plan will afford maximum opportunity,
consistent with the sound needs of the City as a whole for
the rehabilitation or redevelopment of the Coronado Urban
Renewal Project Area by private enterprise..
"The Coronado Urban Renewal Project Area, as revised, located
within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock (which will be affected by
said proposed Urban Renewal Plan) is described generally as follows,to-wit:
BEGINNING at a point at the intersection of the Panhandle
and Santa Fe Railroad Southwest right-of-way and/or the
Northeast right-of-way line of Southeast Drive with the
Northeast right-of-way line of the Fort Worth and Denver
City Railroad;
THENCE North 710311 West a distance of 2102. 1 feet along
said Fort Worth and Denver City Railroad right-of-way line
to a point at the intersection of said line with the West
line of Juniper Avenue;
THENCE North a distance of877 feet along the West line
of Juniper Avenue to a point at the intersection of said
West line with the North line of East 28th Street;
THENCE East a distance of 78 feet along the North line of
East 28th ;Street to a point at the intersection of said North
line with a 10029101/1 curve to the left, said curve being a
continuation of the proposed Southeast right-of-way line of
a proposed overpass street, said curve having its point of
curvature 239. 1 feet West of and 55 feet South of the said
intersection of the curve and the North line of East 28th Street,
--'`` said curve having an internal angle of 390391, and tangent
length of 197. 3 feet, and a radius of 547. 3 feet;
THENCE along said 10029,011, curve to the left an arc
'^ distance of 131. 3 feet to a point of tangency for said curve,
said point of tangency being in the proposed southeast line
of proposed overpass street;
THENCE North 500211 East a distance of 360 feet to a point
at the intersection of the said proposed Southeast line of the
proposed overpass street with the Southwest right-of-way line
of Panhandle and Santa Fe Railroad and/or the Northeast line
of Southeast.Drive;
THENCE South 390 391 East a distance of 2, 395.2 feet along
the Northeast line of Southeast Drive and/or the Southwest
right-of-way line of Panhandle and Santa Fe Railroad to the
POINT OF BEGINNING, said area containing 34.8 acres more
or less.
' The general scope of the Coronado Urban Renewal Project is as
follows:
(1) Acquisition of all real estate not in public use in the Coronado
Urban Renewal Area.
(2) Relocation of residential occupants of the area.
(3) Removal of a few standard structures and those that can be
made standard, and demolition of all other structures.
(4) Relocating and realligning streets and alleys and replatting of
the area into multi-family, commercial and light industrial areas.
(5) Changing the location of existing zoning districts to fit the new
platting for the area.
(6) Relocating existing water lines, sewer lines, storm sewer lines,
gas lines, telephone lines and power lines to fit new street and
alley pattern and constructing adequate new utility lines where
needed.
(7) Removal and reconstruction of existing pavements to fit new
street pattern and constructing adequate new pavement where needed
(8) The selling to private enterprises for redevelopment in accordance
with the approval re-use of all real estate acquired by the Urban
Renewal Agency of the City of Lubbock.
(9) Development by private enterprise of the non-pub ' areas in
accordance with the proposed re-use plan

SECTION 3. THAT at the time, place and date provided in the notice
in Section 2 hereof, the City Commission shall proceed to hold said public
hearing in accordance with said notice and pursuant to Section 7 of the Urban
Renewal Law of Texas.

Please find attached hereto a resolution submitting the Urban
Renewal Plan to the Planning Commission and the Urban Renewal Agency for
their review and recommendations.
With respect to this resolution, we make the following requests:
(1) That as soon as possible three certified and executed copies of this
MN)§ resolution be returned to this department.
(2) That the signature of the Mayor and Commissioners be secured on
the original copy of the resolution on the last page thereof, and be duly
attested by you.
