This funding will be utilized for the development of the American (8) Wind Power Center located in Lubbock, Texas. The project will include both construction and non -construction activities. A building will be constructed that will house staff offices. This will allow the existing buildings to be used for windmill exhibits. The space for these exhibits is desperately needed. Currently, the staff is unable to assemble and display several artifacts due to the limited space. Another portion of the funding will allow for the purchase of additional artifacts. These new pieces will be added to the already extensive collection managed by the American Wind Power Center. The remainder of the funds will be used for adminstrative costs and the purchase of equipment necessary in order to continue the operations of the Center. The project will be completed in four phases, beginning approximately June 2000 and ending May 2001.
