RESOLUTION CANYASSTNG RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF A
SPECIAL URBAN RENEWAL ELECTION.HELD ON NOVEMBER 26, 1957.
STATE OF TEXAS
CITY OF LUBBOCK
COUNTY OF LUBBOCK
On this the_aday of November , 1957p the City Commission of the City
of Lubbock, Texas convened in a called session, at the regular meeting place
thereof, City Hall, there present and in attendance the following members,
to-wit Mayor S.S. Forrest Imo.., a Presiding; Commissioners David
Cased Unnis Baker and
with the following absent, Romer G. M=ey
and O.L. Byrd
constituting a quorum and among the proceedings had were the following:
Commissioner Casey offered the following resolution to the City
Commission and moved its adoption,
WHEREAS, under and by virtue of a Special Urban Renewal Election Ordinan
(being ordinance No. 2340.of'the City of Lubbock, Texas) duly passed by the
City Commission on October 25, 1957, a Special Urban Renewal Election was
held in the City of Lubbock, Texas, on the proposition of whether the voters
of the C_ty of Lubbock were in favor of.or against the adoption by the City
Commission of a resolution making certain findings, determinations, and
elections under and pursuant to the Urban Renewal Law of Texas (said resolu-
tion being more fully set forth in the form of ballot prescribed in said Special
Urban Renewal Election Ordinance No. 2340 and in ,the notice of public hearing
to consider whether said election should be ordered); and,
WHEREAS, upon consideration of the returns of said election, it appears
that same was in all respects legally held after due notice had been given and
that said returns were duly and legally made; and,
WHEREAS, it further appears from said returns that there were cast in
said election / L votes on the proposition of whether the City Commission
should adopt an Urban Renewal Resolution under and pursuant to the Urban
Renewal Law of Texas as aforesaid, of which number, votes were
cast in favor of the adoption of said resolution by the City Commission, and
1 6,o votes were cast against the adoption of said resolution by the City
Commission; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK-
I.
That the aforesaid election was duly and legally called and notice thereof
given in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Special Urban
Renewal Election Ordinance No. 2340 of the City of Lubbock calling said
election; and that said election was held in strict conformity with the Constitutio

and laws of the State of Texas and the returns thereof have been properly made
to the officials of the City entitled to receive same; that only qualified voters
re siding in the City of Lubbock, Texas,'' owning taxable property within the
boundaries thereof, who have duly rendered the same for taxation, were.per-
mitted to vote at. said election and further that said election properly represents
the desires of those qualified to vote as aforesaid.
II.
That the proposition for the adoption by the City Commission of an Urban
Renewal Resolution under and pursuant to the Urban Renewal Law of Texas was
sustained by a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Lubbock, Texas,
voting at said election who .owned taxable property within the boundaries of
said city and who have duly rendered the same for taxation; and that the City
Commission of the City of Lubbock is hereby authorized to adopt an Urban
.Renewal Resolution under and pursuant to the Urban Renewal Law of Texas
substantially in the form as set forth in the notice of public hearing to consider
the question of whether said election would be called and substantially as set
forth in the form of ballot prescribed for said election by Special Urban Renews
Election Ordinance No. 2340 of the City of Lubbock.
The Resolution having been read in full., it was moved by Commissioner
Cog= and seconded by Commissioner Baker
that the same be passed and adopted. Thereupon the Mayor put the motion to
a vote of the members of the City Commission, and the following members vote
"aye": Mayor S.S. Fbrrest, Jr., and Commissioner David Casey and tennis Baker.
The following members voted "nay": None
The Mayor declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted.
Passed and approved this 26tbday of November , 1957.
