CANVASS OF VOTES IN GENERAL ELECTION
HELD, APRIL 5, 1960
i� BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on the 6th day of April, 1960, the City Commission
of the City of Lubbock met at 10:00 orclock, A., Me , in special session in com-
pliance with the charter provision, at the regular meeting place of the Commissio
in theCity Hall, in the City of Lubbock, with the following members present, to-w t:
Mayor Lennis Baker, Commissioners, 'Otis Maner, Homer G, Maxey, David
Casey and Vernon E. Thompson, and Commissioner Casey, having disqualified
himself to act in this matter, and absenting himself from the Commission table.
On motion of Commission Maxey, seconded by Commissioner Thompson, it is
unanimously carried that the returns of the general City election, held April 5,
1960, for the election of a Mayor and four Commissioners for full terms as
provided by law, be opened and canvassed, and the results thereof declared there-
from; and said returns having been duly canvassed, it is found that the votes for
the various candidates are as follows:

THAT O. L. Bright received one write in vote for a position not designated,
And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law and
that David Casey received a plurality of 4217 votes of the total sum of votes cast
for the office of Mayor; and that Vernon Ev -Thompson received a majority of
8584 votes of the total number of votes cast for Commissioner of Place No. 1; and
that W,.. C. O'Mara received a majority of 4993 votes of the total number of votes
cast for Commissioner of 'Place No, 2; and that Otis Maner received a majority
of 8549 votes ofithe total number of votes cast for Commissioner of Place No. 3;
and that Frank/Chappell, Jr.., received a majority of 5379 (rotes of the total num-
ber of votes cast for Commissioner of Place No,. 4, and that each of said persons
receiving such majority or plurality was duly elected by the qualified voters of
the City of Lubbock:
IT IS THEREFORE, FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY COM-
MISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT David Casey was duly elected Mayo
and that Vernon Ea Thompson was duly elected Commissioner for Place No& I;

and that W. C. O'Mara was duly elected Commission for Place No. 2 and that
Otis Maner was duly elected Commissioner for Place No. 3; and that Frank g.
Chappell, Jr., was duly elected Commissioner for Place No. 4; and each of them
;^ was duly elected to said Places as members of the City Commission of the City
of Lubbock at"said election held April 5, 1960.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED, THIS 6TH DAY OF APRILA 1960
