Clifton City Manager City of Lubbock Lubbock, Texas Dear .Mr. Clifton: It is my understanding that the one way street system is to go into effect on Sunday, December 2, 1956,this mares it necessary to revise several bus lines and loading zones.,..' The loading zone on Avenue L at Broadway can be eliminated. The loading zone on Broadway at Avenue K needs to be extended to the alley and a no parking_zone of an additional ten feet back from the side walk will be needed on Avenue K at Broadway to enable the buses to make a right turn and use the loading zone on Broadway. The loading zone on Broadway at Texas Avenue will need to be extended fifty feet. The loading zone at 13th Street and Texas Avenue can be eliminated. The following is a list of the routes to be revised, with the new routing: The 19th and Ellwood line will turn off 19th Street at Avenue K, north on Avenue K to Broadway. The Avenue N and 38th Street line will turn. off 19th Street at Avenue K, north on Avenue K to Broadway. The Broadway and Boston line will turn off 19th Street at Avenue K, north on Avenue K to main Street. The Avenue H line will go west on 14th Street to Avenue K, north on Avenue K to Broadway. The East Broadway line will go west on 14th Street to Avenue K, north on Avenue K to Broadway. The 28th Street and Slide Road line will turn off 19th Street at Avenue Q, north on Avenue Q to Broadway, east on Broadway to Texas Avenue. The Carver Heights line will go north on Texas Avenue to Broadway, east on Broadway to Avenue E. In 1951 we eliminated the use of tokens and approximately sixty days were required to redeem all of the outstanding tokens. We feel, that with the possibility of another transit company being in operation in Lubbock within a short time that we should no longer sell tokens, because these would not be redeemed by another company. 11296bA TELEPHONE 4301 303 - 30th St. LUBBOCK BUS COMPANY 10c— RIDE THE BUS — 1©o Lubbock, Texas The morning school bus serving Monterey High School, bringing students r"from the north and west of Monterey is transporting an average of only ten to twelve students, therefore we feel that the service is not needed. The East Broadway route and the avenue H route are connected together, with thirty minute service all day. We have recently made a check on this line and found that it is transporting one and one-half passengers k; per mile between the hours 9-15 A. M. and 3:15 P. M. Therefore we plan to change these two lines to one hour service during the mentioned six hours per day. We feel that these changes should be made on December 3, 1956. The one way system will go into operation on Sunday, December 2, but we will not be affected- until Monday, December 3, 1956. Very truly yours LUBBOCK BUS COMPANY INC J. A.
