CANVASS OF VOTES IN GENERAL ELECTION
HELD APRIL 3, 1956
BE IT REMEMBERED that on the kth day of April, 1956, the City Commis-
sion of the City of. Lubbock met at '2 :00 o'clock P.M. in spec al session at
the regular meeting„place of the Commission in the City hall in the City of
Lubbock, with the following members present, to-wit:
Murrell R. Tripp, Mayor,and Commissioners Hurley Carpenter
and Lennis Baker.
On motion of Commissioner Carpenter , seconded by Commis
sinner Baker it is unanimously .carried that the returns
of the Gene-ral City-Elections held April 3, 1956, for the election of a Mayor
and two (2) Commissioners for full terms, and one (1) Commissioner for
Place No. 3 for a two-year term, be opened and canvassed, and the results
thereof declared therefrom; and said returns having been duly canvassed,
it is found that.the votes for the various candidates were as follows:

And it further,appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law,
and that.S.S. Forrest, Jr. received a majority of 1372 votes of the total num-
ber of votes cast for the office of Mayor, and David C. Casey received a
majority of 3048 votes of the total number of votes cast for Commissioner
of Place No. 2, and that 0 L. Byrd received .a majority of 3065 votes of the
total number of votes cast for Commissioner of Place no. 3, and that Homer

G. a�ey received a. majority of 3016 votes of the total number of votes
cast for Commissioner of Place No. 4, and that each of said persons
receiving such majority was duly elected by the qualified voters of the
City'of Lubbock:
IT IS, THEREFORE, FOUND,; DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: That S.S. Forrest, Jr. was
I' duly elected Mayor, and that David C. Casey was duly elected Commissioner
for Place No. Z. and that O. L. Byrd was. duly elected Commission for Place
No. 3, and that Homer G. Maxey was duly elected Commissioner for Place

No. 4, and each of them was duly elected to said places as members of the
