HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 020956C - Request For Highway Department - Construction For Future Semi-Freeway On 4Th St. - 02_09_1956 02,09sbc RESOLUTION WHEREAS, 4th Street has been designated as a farm-to-market roadway C oT y 2-14-5 5 to be improved by the State of Texas and the County of Lubbock with two-lane to C i t y Enryli pavement from the West City Limits of the City of Lubbock on 4th Street West & Orville to Reece Air Force Based and, Alderson,in Paving Dept .rt . WHEREAS, the existing pavement on 4th Street is approximately 2000 feet East of the West City Limits Line of Lubbock and this street has been designated as a semi-freexay ,on the City's Master Thoroughfare Plan, and. WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary that farm-to-market roadways connect with existing pavement and the City Commission desires that a section with curb and gutter be constructed conforming to one-half of a semi-freeway section within and along the boundaries of the City of Lubbock, and, WHEREAS., the right-of-way necessary for the South one-half of the future semi-freeway must be obtained and cleared of obstructions to permit this construction, NOW THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: THAT, The Texas Highw Department be and is hereby requested to construct a 36 foot width of 1 " asphalt surfacing on_ a 6" caliche base between a 6"x30"concrete curb"and gutter and a 6"x9" concrete median curb located so as to become the future South- one-half of'the future semi-freeway on 4th Street from the West City Limits Line to the existing pavement near the -- Seagraves Branch of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway Company, the cost of said 6"x3O" concrete curb and gutter and said 6"x9" concrete median curb 'to be paid by the City of Lubbock to the Texas Highway Department.' THAT, the City of Lubbock will provide the necessary right-of-ray, free of obstruction, for the construction of this project from the West City Limits Lined said line being 1320 feet East of the Southwest Corner of Section 20, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas, to the existing pavement near.the Seagraves Branch of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway Company.
