A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF 4TH STREET FROM
THE WEST CITY LIMITS TO THE JUNCTION OF SAID STREET WITH U.S.
HIGHWAY NO. 82 IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK AS A PART OF THE 1956 PAV-
ING PROGRAM OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, AND DECLARING THE POLICY
OF THE.CITY OF LUBBOCK TO ,MAKE SUCH IMPROVEMENTS IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH THE MASTER THOROUGHFARE PLAN.
WHEREAS, the Commissioners-Court-of Lubbock County, Texas, has
proposed to the State Highway Department a plan whereby said County shall
bear fifty (50%) percent of the cost of a twenty (20) foot paved farm-to-market
road on the section line which is an extension of 4th Street of the City of Lub-
bock, from the City limits to Reese Airforce Base; and,
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the State Highway Department to require
that all farm-to-market roads shall junction a State Highway, U.S. Highway,
or an improved City street that junctions with a State or U.S. Highway; and,
Frnm G-r_v WHEREAS, in order to conform to such requirements of the State High-
to U S F2 way Department, approximately 1800 feet of 4th Street within the City limits
iu>,t ''hest, from the West City limits to the junction of 4th Street with U.S. Highway
of PFcSF Ry No. 82 should be improved by the City of Lubbock; and,
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Lubbock to improve its streets
within the City limits with curbs and gutters on all pavement; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is in the public
interest that said portion of 4th Street be imprwed in accordance with such
requirements, and that .su(ah improvements be made in conformity with the
Master Thoroughfare Plan of the City of Lubbock; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. That the City of Lubbock does hereby designate that portion
of 4th Street from the West City limits to the junction of said street with
U.S. Highway No. 82 in the City of Lubbock as a part of the 1956 Paving
Program, and the.City.of Lubbock does hereby declare_the pbUcy of making
such improvements in accordance with the Master Thoroughfare Plan of the
City of 'Lubbock.
SECTION 2. That the City Secretary-Treasurer BE, and she is hereby
authorized and directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the County
Commissioners Court of Lubbock County, Texas, and to the State Highway
Department at Austin, Texas.
