I RESOLUTION C,0PY 10-24-54 to UIMREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock has heretofore City Atty , determined and now finds that due to increased vehicular traffic on streets City Engr of the City of Lubbock, it is necessary to make Avenue "L" a public thorough- Right-of- fare into the down-town business area and that there is an off-set at Avenue 'Way. 1 aL" and 19th Street presently interfering with the flog of traffic; and, WEREAS, it has been further determined by said City Commission that in order to widen said Avenue "L" at the intersection with 19th Street to eliminate the off-set it is necessary to acquire fee simple title to the property abutting and adjacent to the West property line of preavnt..Avenue 00 lying South of 19th Street and more particularly described hereafter by metes and bounds; and, WHEREAS, the City Commission has heretofore had the land appraised, and based on the appraisal , ad offer of Six Thousand and No/100 WrO00.00) Dollars was made to Mrs. Vgrta E. Bacon,as ovuer of the land by the City of Lubbock for the purchase of said land; and, WHEREU.S, Mrs, YVrta 11, Bacon on the 22nd day of September, 1.951,, re- j e c to d the offer of the City of Lubbock; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COWISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That public necessity and convenience requires the widening of Avenue "L" by the acquisition for street purposesof the following dos- cribed property, to-wit: BEGIMNG at a point in the East line 'of Lot 18, Block 1 of the Pickett & Penny Addition to the City of Lubbock, Texas, said point being 24.95 feet Borth of the S. E. corner of said Lot 18; THENCE Worth along the East lines of Lots 182 19 and 20, a dim- tance of 77 feet to a point, said point being the intersection of the East line of Lot 20 and the South R. 0. W. line of 19th Street; THEM Nest along the South R `O. :W. line of 19th Street a dis- tance of 25 feet to a point; THENCE Southeasterly across Lots 20, 19 and 18, a distance of $0.95 feet to the POINT OF BEGIVNING. Containing 962.5 square feet of land, aaore or less. SECTION 2. The offer of Six Thousand and No/100 ($6,000.00) Dollars having been made to Mrs. �Vrt!: % De c:or, the owner of said land, for the purchase thereof, and said offer having been rejected by said owner.. that the City Attorney EE, and he is beralpr authorized and directed to acquire by corden-ration proceedings the fee irsi.*ple title to said, property hereto- fore described for street purposes.
