RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the area east of Avenue Q, north of 8th Street, west of Avenue O, and south
of 7th Street has not yet been officially named, and
WHEREAS, the Civic Lubbock, Inc. Board and the City Council wish to honor and pay
tribute to Buddy Holly, to other individuals who have gained national recognition in the field of
the arts, music and entertainment who have an affiliation to Lubbock and the West Texas area,
and to those local citizens who have devoted their lives to the development, promotion of art,
music or entertainment in the West Texas area; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the area east of Avenue Q, north of 8th Street, west of Avenue O, and south of 7th
Street is hereby named "Buddy Holly Plaza" in honor of Buddy Holly; and
THAT located within the Buddy Holly Plaza shall be
(1) the Buddy Holly "Walk of Fame" designated to honor those individuals in the field
of the arts, music and/or entertainment who have an affiliation to Lubbock and the West
Texas area and who have gained national recognition in their field; and
(2) the Buddy Holly "Terrace" (the raised seating area just west of the Buddy Holly
statute) designated to honor citizens of the Lubbock region who have devoted a
significant part of their lives to the development, promotion of regional art, music or
entertainment in the West Texa,% arear,
