WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Commission
that Clarence K. Whiteside, former mayor and commissioner, has
resigned from the Association promoting the Canadian River Dam project,
and the Commission and the public generally know that Mr. Whiteside over
a long period of years has worked;tirelessly on this project for the com-
mon benefit of the cities and towns belonging to the Association in order to
ultimately secure a definitely adequate water supply from the Canadian
River for Lubbock and the many other towns involved, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT, in appreciation for the work done by Clarence K. Whiteside,
that they publicly thank him for his long and meritorious service rendered
the public, and especially the people of the City of Lubbock, in his endeavor
to bring to a successful conclusion the Canadian River Dam Project, which
has matured to the point that an election for the formation of a water district
will be held within the 'very near future.
On motion of Commissioner Davis seconded by
Commissioner Carpenter the foregoing Resolution was
approved and passed this 11 day of December 195 2 by
the following vote:
Commissioners voting "YEA": Morris,Carpenter,Davis, Thomas
and Mayor Tripp
Commissioners voting "NAY": None
