BE IT RESOLVED BY"THE CITY_COMMISSION'OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the proposal of L. A. Purtell, transmitted by letter dated
Copy sent April 25, 1952, offering to sell to the City of Lubbock water rights at a price
May 611952 not to exceed Ten. and hIo1100 ($10.00) Dollars per acre, provided the City
to finds water in suitable quality and quantity for its purposes on approximately
R.L.Oldhan 52, 000 acres of land lying in one block south and west of Muleshoe in Bailey
City
Engirt County, Texas, BE accepted, It being understood that the offer constitutes an
Auditor option and the City is given possession for the limited purpose of making tests
for water at the earliest practicable time.
The Director of Public Works is authorized and directed to make the
necessary tests to determine the quality and quantity of the water underlying
this land and make a report to the Commission of the:findings as soon as is
possible, solely to the City 'Commission,
On motion of Commissioner Davis , seconded by
Commissioner Carpenter the foregoing Resolution was
passed by the following vote of the City Commission this 3rd day of
May , 1952;
Commissioners voting "YEA": Morris, Carpenter, Davis,, Thomas and
Mayor Tripp
Commissioners voting "NAY": None

Lubbock, Texas.
Gentlemen:
I have acquired an option on rater rights on approximately
52,000 acres of land lying in one block south and crest of
Muleshoe, Bailey Counter, Texas. My option is based.upon mar
finding eater in suitable quantities for heavy irkigation and/or
municipal use.
I offer to sell for a consideration of $1.00 and other
Valuable consideration., these water rights to the City of
Imbbockt, the actual sale price to be a suet not to exceed
10*00 per acre, provided "the .City finds. water in suitable
quantities for its purposes..
My option is based upon certain considerations, Mainly
that tests for this v ter be made in a. very short while* It is
therefore necessary that l have a decision from the City Com-
mission within the next two or three days.
