CANVASS OF VOTES IN GENERAL ELECTION
HELD APRIL 1, 1952
BE IT REMEMBERED that on the 3rd day of April, 1952, the City Commis-
sion of the City of Lubbock met,at 10 O'clock A. M., in Special Session
at the regular meeting place of the Commission in,the City Hall in the City of
Lubbock, with the following members present, to-wit:
Clarence K. Whiteside, Mayor, and.Commissioners Harry Morris,
E. K. Hufstedler, Jr., L. E. Davis, and Lucian Thomas.
On motion of Commissioner $ufstedler , seconded by Commissioner
Morris , i was maaiimous..ly carried that the returns of the
G ti General City Elecon, held April 1, 1952 for the election.of a mayor and two
(2) commissioners for full terms be opened and canvassed, and the results
thereof declared therefrom; and said returns .having been duly canvassed, it is
found that the votes for the various candidates were as follows:

Hurley Carpenter (Unopposed) 6 ,381

And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law,
and that Murrell R. 'Tripp received a majority of 236 votes of the total
number of votes cast for the office of Mayor, and Hurley Carpenter received a
majority of 6,332 votes of the total number of votes cast for Commissioner
of Place No. Z, and that Lucian Thomas received a majority of 6 ,401 votes
of the total number of votes cast for Commissioner of Place No. 4, and that
each of said persons receiving such majorities was duly elected by the qualified
voters of the City of Lubbock:
I'T IS, THEREFORE, FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY 'THE.CITY
COMMISSION OF THE .CITY OF LUBBOCK: That Murrell R. Tripp was duly
elected Mayor and that Hurley Carpenter was duly elected Commissioner for
Place No. 2; and that Lucian Thomas was duly elected Commissioner for Place
No. 4; and each of them was duly elected to said places as members of the City
Commission of the City of Lubbock at said Election held April 1, 1952.
