Requested To Share W_ COL Cost Of Pavement Construction - 05_24_1951 RESOLUTION 524 5 118 'vAMEAS, the laws of the State of Texas provide that any county may parti- cipate in the construction of roads or streets through an incorporated city, provided said roads or streets are a continuation of a county road or a state . highway; and, the County of Lubbock has on several instances participated in the cost of constructing roads and streets in the City of Lubbock; and, the transmission of large volumes of traffic through the City is a public responsibility to be shared by the City, County, State, and Federal Government; and, the State and Federal Governments have selected certain through streets and roads on which they are willing to participate in the cost of con struction and have left others to be constructed by other public agencies; and, the City Co,-,mission believes that the City and County are left i frith the joint responsibility of providing pavements of adequate width tD handle �6 A the through traffic on certain streets and highways where state and federal funds Cr^ -c �� mare not available for this purpose; and, �Jfil�iEAS, the City would like to construct, during the fiscal year begin- ning October 1, 1951, a substantial portion of these thoroughfares on which the elZtate and Federal Government will not participate in the cost. IJOi'r THERE,FORE.1 M IT FMSOLVED BY THE CITY CCIM,11--MlJ OF THE CITY OF /y LUBBOCK:.. . `L THAT, the County Com•nissionerst Court of the County of Lubbock be and is �t in.ir, respectfully requested to share equally with the City that portion of the cost -rr' Cx not borne by the property olmers for (1) the construction of an 82t wide pavement / on Erskine Avenue from College Avenue East to the Amarillo HighiNray; estimated cost of $48,000 each for the County and City; (2) the construction of a 60 wide pavement on 34th Street from Indiana Avenue on the west to the Slide Road; -esti- mated cost of 08,000 each for the County and City; and, THAT, the County bear $15,000 of the cost of the construction of an 84t w3 pavement on College Avenue from 4th Street north to the Clovis Road; and, S�-.0 THAT, in order thlct the City may budgA the necessary funds for this work, afjr �i� the Corcnissionerst Court of the County of Lubbock is respectfully requested to advise the City Commission whether the County All perticipate in the cost of constructing these thoroughfares to the extent named herein and when the County i-:ill budget funds for this purpose.
