HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 050151A - New Rates_Charges For City Bus Transportation - Lubbock Bus Company - 05_01_1951 RESOLUTION JA WHEREAS, the City Commission has given due consideration to the application of Lubbock Bus Company for a change in rates, as provided by Section 6 of Ordinance No. 664 of the City of Lubbock, and,has considered the benefits to the public, the net earnings of the franchise holder, and is of the opinion and finds 'that the changes in fares or charges for passage on busses of said company as hereinafter set out will be in the public "interest,'. and, WHEREAS, said Section 6 and the franchise provide ,for changes in rates or charges after consideration by the Commission and by its resolution, THEREFORE, Ci BE IT RESOLVED W THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY ,OF LUBBOCK: Section 1. THAT on and after the effective date of this resolution, the �j following rates and charges shall apply to all transportation on busses operated y said franchise holder: Ten-c-ents cash fare between termini, except as herein stated. .y�� • Five cents (5�) cash fare for children. attending schools of twelve grades or lower for transportation to and from schools. Five cents (5}) cash fare at all times for children six to twelve years of age, inclusive. No charge for children five years of age and under when accompanied by a paying passenger. Transfers to be issued free of charge. The foregoing fares and provisions shall be continuously posted in each bus in a conspicuous place. Section Z. The rates provided by Section 1 of this Resolution eliminate the seven cents (7�) cash fare on all busses when tokens are not available to passengers, and the additional provision that tokens shall be sold five for thirty- five cents (35�) and shall be accepted on each bus in lieu of the ten cents (1( cash fare, which authority, with reference to tokens, the issuance and sale of tokens, and acceptance of tokens in payment of fares, is hereby cancelled and revoked. The franchise holder is authorized and directed to redeem all outstand- ing tokens heretofore sold by it, provided such tokens are presented at its bus company office within sixty days after ka)ril 1. , 1951. No tokens shall be accepted in payment for fares after 1951. The franchise holder shall give the owners of tokens no ice o the last date upon which tokens will be accepted in payment of fares, and the terms and time within which such tokens will be redeemed, by adequate-publication of all related provisions of this Resolution. The foregoing change in rates or charges is made subject to the right reserved by the City Commission of the City of Lubbock to hereafter at any time it may deem it expedient or necessary in the public interest to reconsider and modify or reduce said rates by resolution, and, after notice to the franchise holder, should the City Commission find such reduction to be in the public interest. This Resolution supersedes the provisions of a resolution passed by the City Commission on the same subject and dated September 28, 1947. Section 3.
