HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 012551F - Legislature Of Texas Requested To Ratity And Adopt The Canadian River Compact - 01_25_1951 A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the legally constituted Inter-State Compact Commission for Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma,'-on December 6, 1950, at Santa Fe, New Mexico, consummated and signed a compact providing for the division of the waters of the Canadian River and its tributaries between the said three State s, and Co"�ieS WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Lubbock, Texas, has 1ua� s examined said Compact and believes the same to be a fair and equitable division �p I of the said waters between the States of Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, and WHEREAS, the said Compact is not effective unless and until adopted by the Legislatures of the States of Texas, New .Mexico, and Oklahoma, and WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock has a population of 71, 390, according to the last preceding federal census, and is one of the Texas cities to be affec- ted by such legislation, NOW THEREFORE, i BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK.* TEXAS: r� THAT the Legislature of Texas be, and the same is hereby requested to ratify and adopt the Canadian River Compact as agreed upon and signed by the " Inter-State Compact Commission for Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma at II Santa Fe, New Mexico, on December '6, 1950.
