HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 022648B - Rules And Regulations - Lbk Airport Board - Municipal Airport Traffic Control - 02_26_1948 :r f r� RESOLUTION VTEREAS, the Lubbock Airport Board, has recommended that the following Rules and Regulations be adopted for the control of aircraft traffic at the Lubbock Municipal Airport, and, %11EREAS, the said regulations have been submitted to and approved by the District Supervisor of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, the commercial airlines and the local operators at the field; THEREFdRt, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COWISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKt THAT, the rules and regulations hereinafter setout are hereby adopted by the Governing Body of the City of 'Lubbock in the Public interest and for the purpose of directing, controlling and supervising aircraft traffic at the. Lubbock Municipal 'Airport, in the interest of the public safety. o O AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC REGULATIONS FOR LUBBOCK KUNICIPAL AIRPORT 1. Prior to Take.- off: a. All aircraft shall use the most direct taxiway to the end of the runway in use. All take-offs shall be made from the end of the runway. Approved tgxi routes to each runway shall be posted on the bulletin board at the Airport by Airport Manager. b.. Before crossing any runway while taxiing the pilot shall stop his aircraft and clear himself before proceeding. c. Unless impossible to reach the end of the runway in use by any other route, aircraft shall not be taxied on a runway. d. While taxiing, pilots shall beep their aircraft on the right hand aide of ramps or taxiway. e. Prior to assuming a take-off position, the pilot shall face his aircraft toward approaching traffic and be certain that he will not interfere with such traffic. Remember, aircraft landing or maneuvering for a landing have the right®of-way over other aircraft in flight or on the surface. 21. After Take-off: a. Pilots of light aircraft shall continue a straight-ahead course until an altitude of at least 400 feet is attained. After leveling off at this altitude pilots shall execute a 900 turn to the left. This 900 left turn shall not be executed until pilot has cleared the end of the runway. ice•e b. After completing the 900 turn to the left the pilot of light aircraft shall.; (1) if leaving the traffic pattern, attain analtitude of 500 feet, then execute a 450 turn to the right. (2) If remaining in the traffic pattern, continue until an altitude of 800 ft is attained, then execute a 900 turn to the left . and take his position in the traffic pattern. c. Pilots of heavy aircraft shall continue a straight-ahead course until an altitude of at least 500 feet is attained. They may then execute climbing turns to the left or continue to climb straight ahead until out of the traffic zone of the airport (3 miles). 3. • Traffic Pattern: a. All light aircraft shall conform to .the rectangular traffic pattern. All heavy aircraft shall conform to the circular pattern. b. All turns in a rectangular pattern shall be 900 turns to the left. The circular pattern shall also be executed to the left. c. Light aircraft entering the pattern shall do so on the downwind leg at an altitude of 800 feet,. Heavy aircraft shall enter the pattern at an angle at 1000 feet. It shall be the responsibility of the pilot of heavy aircraft to clear himself from the light aircraft in the rectangular pattern,. ,.20 . d.. When landing, all aircraft shall use the runway indi,cated by the tetrahedron. Under calm wind conditions, all take- offs and landings shall be made to the northeast. 4. Landings a. While on the downwind leg of the pattern and VFR prevail, all pilots shall check the rotating beacon. If the beacon is on,. this will indicate that a. scheduled air carrier is within five miles of the field or is prepairing to take off. All pilots will use utmost caution to see that they do not Interfere with the safe operation of such carrier, and will give priority to the carrier. b. All landings shall be executed so that the first touch dorm is made within the first one-third of the runway.. a. After landing, the pilot shall, as soon as possible, maneuver his aircraft off the runway so that he will not create a hazard to others landing behind him. Under no circumstances will the pilot taxi down the runway after completing a landing. 5. Whenever the ceiling as reported by Weather Bureau personnel is below 1000 feet or the visibility is three miles or less, the beacon will be turned on to- indicate that all local flying tinder VFR is suspended and IFR prevail„ w3$
