RESOLUTION 1246 - 11/11/82
A RESOLUTION CREATING AN OVERTON NORTH STUDY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the Overton Addition was the first residential subdivision to the
City of Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the Overton North Area, bounded by Broadway, University Avenue,
4th Street and Avenue Q, continues to be a vital asset to the City of Lubbock;
and
WHEREAS, the passage of time, market trends and land use changes have
created severe pressure on Overton North; and
WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to analyze the problems and potential of
Overton North, and to take positive steps to revitalize the area; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT an Overton North Study Committee be created to conduct an analysis of
Overton North and make recommendations for the future; and
THAT the Committee should include, but not be limited to, the following:
1) A representative of homeowners within Overton North, 1
2) A representative of businessmen within Overton North,
3) A representative of apartment owners within Overton North,
4) A representative of the Overton South Neighborhood Association,
5) A representative of Texas Tech University,
6) A representative of downtown businessmen,
7) A representative of local lending institutions,
8) The Chairman of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, (ex-officio)
9) The Chairman of the. Planning and Zoning Commission, (ex-officio); and,,
THAT the City Planning Department shall coordinate the study proceedings
according to the attached study scope.
