After consideration, the Board approved a grant for Lubbock Fire Rescue in the amount of $11,283.49 to be used for the purposes indicated in your grant request. This grant represents the $12,537.21 that was requested, minus the 10% agency match. The grant period is from November 10, 2021 through September 30, 2022. We request all purchases and project work be completed and the associated documentation submitted to our office no later than September 15, 2022. As a reminder, this is a reimbursable grant. Your agency must expend the funds and provide documentation of this expenditure. Also, the items purchased and work completed must match the grant request. Lubbock Fire Rescue (LFR) was activated as a backup Communication Center for Lubbock Police Department (LPD) from duly I Ith to August 4tb, MI. There was a Hood In the LPD Communication Center that required an immediate exit, and the LPD staff was sent to LFR to avoid a break In the continuity of 911 savice to the dtiaens of Lubbock. Captain Burrow responded to locate the specific equipment needed, such as laptops, tablets, and other hardware, to maintain the expected level of communication services for the City of Lubbock. The goal of this grant request Is to fW= the need for additional equipment to be in place in preparation for similar evacuation of communication centers and for disaster preparedness. Currently, LFR Communications serves as the primary backup for LPD and Lubbock DPS, but m a viable and closely located backup for UMC — EMS and Lubbock Sheriff's OffW Communication Centers as well. The addition of 3 computer workstations and to the LFR Communication Center will go a long way to provide a continually superior operation of the 9- 1-1 service during disasters, either to a different local PSAP or to the City of Lubbock. The total number of calls answered during this relocation by LPD Call Takers was 14,648 — with 6225 being emergencies. This project will allow agencies to enter the center and begin operations quickly, without the need to locate and deploy temporary hardware and equipment.
