AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF
HARVARD STREET LOCATED IN SECTION 6, BLOCK J-S, LUBBOCK COUNTY,
TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS
ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL
MAPS OF THE CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABA.~ONMENT AND CLOSING;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portion as hereinafter described
in the body of this Ordinance is no longer needed for public use and it would be in the
public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for street purposes and for public
use and it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for street
purposes and public use; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the street portion as hereinafter described shall BE and the
same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use, such
street being more particularly described as follows:
METES AND BOlJNDS DESCRIPTION for a street stub right-of-way to
be closed located on the South side of Harvard Street between Frankford
Avenue and North Evanston Avenue in Section 6, Block J-S, Lubbock
County, Texas, being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a ½" iron rod with cap set in reference in the South right-
of-way line of Harvard Street which bears North, 1215.50 feet and East,
250.00 feet from the Southwest comer of Section 6, Block J-S, Lubbock
County, Texas;
THENCE East, along the South right-of-way of Harvard Street, at 40.00
feet pass a ½" iron rod with cap set in reference, continuing along the
South right-of-way line of Harvard Street for a total distance of 88.00 feet
to a point of reverse tangency;
THENCE Southwesterly, along the South right-of-way line of Harvard
Street around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of 15.00 feet, a
central angle of 90°, tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, and a chord distance of
21.21 feet to a point of intersection;
THENCE West, along the South right-of-way line of Harvard Street, a
distance of 60.00 feet to a point of intersection;
THENCE Northwesterly, along the South right-of-way line of Harvard Street

around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of 15. 00 feet, a central
angle of 90°, tangent lengths of 15.00 feet, and a chord distance of21.21 feet
to a point of reverse tangency;
THENCE East, along the South right-of-way line of Harvard Street, a
distance of2.00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark
the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing,
showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby
authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
