AS A HOLIDAY AND ORDINANCE NO. 994 TO INCLUDE THAT DATE, REPEALING ALL. PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND DIRECTING CITY.SEIGRET.A.RY TO REFLECT AMENDMENT TO A:.LL�QRDINANCES AMENDED AND REPEALED AS, TO ALL ORDINANCES REPEALED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. r [® BE IT ORDAINED BY TIME CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION .I. 3rudinaxce No.. 994 is hereby amended to delete there- from the, `11th day of November (Armistice Day) and. to insert in its place and to include the 30th day of May (Memorial Day) as a designated, holiday for perma- nent" City of Lubbock. employees, and as made a part hereof it shall read as follows: SECTION 1 THAT,the following days are hereby declared holidays for all permanent City employees, SUBJECT, HOWEVER., to the limitations herein stated,. 1, The .lst day of January New Yearts Z. -The 30th day of May . ,e orial Day 3. The 4th day ofltzly Independence Day 4. The lst Monday in September Labor Day 5. The "last Thursday, in November Thanksgiving Day 6, The 25th clay of December Christmas Day 7. Any other Holiday designated by the Governing Body,. 8, - When any Holiday listed above falls on Sunday, the following business day shall be considered as a Holiday. The, designation of the foregoing days as Holidays shall not be construed as entitling any such employee to observe such Holiday, or the right to be absent fxorn his duty on the dates specified, except as hereinafter provided, SECTION 2 THAT, Department heads shall authorize Holi- days on the dates above s.et out unless to do so will unreason ably interfere with the necessary public sservic.e being rendered by such Department. Any emp.lcye.es required to be on duty on any such Holiday shall be entitled to a day off within thirty (30) days from such Holiday, and at a time satisfactory to the Department: Head. SECTION 3 THAT, when employees working can a shift arrangement in the Fire, Police, 'Water, Electric and Sewage Disposal, Departments have been employed by the yW City of Lubbock fox six (6) months or more, in lieu of the above Holidays the DeVartment Read may i arrangecompensating days off at the end of varcation periods, by providing one '(1) day off for every sixty (60) days in a calendar year.
