ORDINANCE NO. 4190
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING PORTIONS OF EAST 24TH
STREET FROM THE EAST LINE OF ASH AVENUE TO THE WEST LINE OF THE
NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN ASH AVENUE AND BIRCH AVENUE AND FROM
THE EAST LINE OF THE NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN ASH AVENUE AND
BIRCH AVENUE TO THE WEST LINE OF BIRCH AVENUE, AS MORE P ARTICUL-
ARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF TillS ORDINANCE; AND DIRECTING THE
CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO
INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONING OF SAID PORTIONS OF EAST 24TH
STREET AS AFORESAID.
WHEREAS~ the City Commission finds that portions of East 24th Street, as
hereinafter more particularly described is no longer needed for street purposes
or for public use; and,
WHEREAS., the City Commission finds it would be to the public interest to
close~ vacate and abandon same for street purposes and to public use; NOW THERE
FORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT por1xms of East 24th Street, as hereinafter described,
shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street pur-
poses and for public use; said tracts of land being particularly described as follows.,
to-wit:
TRACT 1
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Lot 8, Block 5, Wheelock1s
Second Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas
THENCE East along the North line of East 24th Street and the South
line of said Lot 8 a distance of 140 feet;
THENCE South along the West line of the North-South alley between
Ash and Birch Avenues a distance of 100 feet;
THENCE West along the South line of East 24th Street and the North
line of Lot 1., Block 6, Wheelock's Second Addition a distance of 140 feet;
THENCE North along the East line of Ash Avenue a distance of 100 feet to
the POINT OF BEGINNING.
TRACT 2
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Lot 9, Block 5, Whe.elockts
Second Addition to the City .of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE East along the North line of East 24th Street and the South
line of said Lot 9 a distance of 140 feet;
THENCE South along the West line of Birch Avenue a distance of 50 feet;

140 feet;
THENCE North alor:g the East line of the North-South alley between
Birch and Ash Avenues a distance of 50 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
TRACT 3
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Lot 12, Block 6, Wheelock's
Second Addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County~ Texas;
THENCE East along the South line of East 24th Street and the North
line of said Lot 12 a distance of 140 feet;
THENCE North along the West line of Birch Avenue a distance of
50 feet;
THENCE West along the center line of East 24th Street a distance of
140 feet;
THENCE South along the East line of the North-South alley between
Birch and Ash Avenues a distance of 50 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to
mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the positions of streets
as described in Section 1 hereof, have been cbsed and abandoned, showing the numb r
of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
