WHEREAS, the City Commission has been urged by petition of a large nu'nber of owners of sundry tracts of land included within the area hereinafter described, to annex and include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, and the City Commission finds that said area hereinafter des cribed �s largely improved by the past and present construction of many homes and that many of the tracts within the described area are in line of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, that annexation of the entire area described in this Ordinance by metes and bounds will be in the public interest, and the City Commission is authorized to annex said area which is adjacent to and abuts the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, THEREFORE, 4 BE IT ORDAINED 1Y THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That the following described area abutting corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, described by metes and bounds as follows, to -wit: BEGINNING at a point in the present City Limits line, said point being 350 feet south of the North Line of Section Three (3), Block E, Lubbock County, Texas, and 150 feet,more or less,west of the West line of Avenue Q in the City of Lubbock, Texas; V7 r V THENCE west along a line parallel to and 350 feet south of the North Line of Section Three (3), Block E, and Sections Seven (7), Eight (8), and Nine (9), Block E-2, all in Lubbock County, Texas, to a point 660 feet west of the East Line of said Section Nine (9), Block E-2, said point being five (5) feet south of the intersection of the center lines of 5 1 s t Street in Raleigh Avenue; THENCE north 1340 feet along a line parallel to the East Line of Section Nine (9), Block E-2, and Section Eighteen (18), Block B; THENCE west 924 feet to a point; THENCE north 1650 feet to a point in the present City Limits Line, said point being in the North line of the Southeast Quar- ter (SE 1-4) of Section Eighteen (18), Block B; THENCE east to a point in the present City Limits Lane, said point being at the intersection of the West Line of Nashville Avenue and the center line of 42d Street in the City of Lubbock; THENCE south along the West Line of Nashville Avenue and the present City Limits Line to the South Line of 44th Street; THENCE east along the South Line of 44th Street and the present City Limits Line to the center line of Knoxville Avenue; THENCE north eighty-five (85) feet along center line of Knoxville Avenue and the present City Limits Line; THENCE east along the present City Limits Line to the East Line of Section Sixteen (16), Block B; THENCE north 9.69 feet along the present City Limits Line and the West Line of Section Fourteen (14), Block B, to the intersec- tion of said West Line of Section Fourteen (14), Block B, and the extension of a line 45. 31 feet south of and parallel to the South Line of Block Seven (7), Lamar Heights Addition to the City of Lubbock, Texas; THENCE east along the present City Limits Line and along a line 45.31 feet south of and parallel to the South Lane of Blocks Seven (7) and Eight (8) of said Lamar Heights Addition to the center line of Gary Avenue in the City of Lubbock, Texas; THENCE south along said center line of Gary Avenue and the present City Limits Line to the South Line of Section Fourteen (14), Block B; P. 2 0 THENCE east along the present City Limits Line. and along the South Line of Sections Fourteen (14) and Ten (10), Block B, Lubbock County, Texas, to a point 150 feet, more or loss, west of the West Line of Avenue Q, said point being a corner in the praesent City Limits Line; THENCE southeasterly along the present City Limits Line to the POINT OF BEGINNING, BE, and the same is hereby annexed and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2■ This ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily newspaper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, one (1) time and shall not be thereafter finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and if finally passed in its present form, the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Sitction 1 (One) of this ordinance. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
