HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1734-1955 - Annexing An Area 2.49 Acres W 19Th - 06.09.1955I � ' OQ�] A CE 1734 i AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING AN AREA AND TERRITORY ABUTTING AND 'ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUB- BOCK, BEING APPROXIMATELY 2.49 ACRES LYING SOUTH OF WEST 19TH STREET, AND THE WEST LINE OF THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS, IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK AS DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR EXTENSION OF THE CITY LIMITS AND CORPORATE BOUNDARIES TO ANNEX THE AREA; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND FINAL PASSAGE UNDER PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3-A, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER ONE OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, AND EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS TO INCLUDE SAID AREA. Cor- ' ssion WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the area hereinafter described is in line. of development, growth and expansion being expexlienced by the City of Lubbock, that its annexation has been requested, and the Com.)-ni.ssion fur- ther finds that annexation of the described area will be in the best interest of public health, morals, safety and general welfare, and the Commission is authorized to annex the same under those Charter provisions; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the following described area abutting and adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, in Lubbock County, Texas, out of Section 5, Block E-2, described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at a point 933.4 feet West of the Northeast corner of Section 5, Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas, said point being in the present City Limit line; THENCE West a distance of 116. 7 feet to a point; THENCE South a distance of 933.4 feet to a point; THENCE East a distance of 116. 7 feet to a point; said point being in the West City Limit line; THENCE North along the present City Limit line a distance of 933.4 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. Containing 2.49 acres. BE, and the same is hereby annexedto and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily news- paper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, one (1) time, and shall not be thereafter finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and if finally passed in its present form, the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Section 1 (one) of this ordinance. AND IT IS SO ORDERED. WHERr,AS, the twenty (20) foot alley lying immediately South of, and abutting lots 385 to 397 inclusive, Caprock Addition, has never been opened, used, or otherwise devoted to public uses or public purposes, and is not needed for any public purpose, and the Commission is of the opinion that it will be in the public interest to abandon and close said alley; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the twenty (20) foot alley, more or less, lying immediately South of and abutting Lots 385 to 397 inclusive BE, and the same is hereby abandoned and closed to public use, said alley being located within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, Texas, as recorded in Volume 13, Page 500, Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas, and being further described by metes and bounds as follows, to -wit: BEGINNING at a point 2878.97 feet South, and 30 feet East of the Northwest corner of the East 2 (one-half) of Section 7, Block E-2 Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE South 860 31' 54" East a distance of 826.5 feet along the South side of Lots 385 to 397 inclusive, of the Caprock Addition, as recorded in Volume 131 Page 500, of the Lubbock County Deed Records; THENCE North 860 31' 54" West a distance of 826.5 feet to a point; THENCE North 20.04 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
