HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2021-R0489 - Accept donation of trash receptacles from Betenbough Quality HomesResolution No. 2021-RO489 Item No. 6.10 December 14, 2021 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock (the "City"), a home -rule municipal corporation in the State of Texas provides certain sanitation services for its citizens, including trash and garbage collection and removal, primarily through its Solid Waste Department; and WHEREAS, Betenbough Quality Homes, Inc, a Texas Corporation, wishes to donate 906 trash receptacle carts to the City in order to facilitate and assist the City in providing trash and garbage collection and removal for the citizens of the City (the "Donation"); and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock, as the governing body of the City of Lubbock, believes that it is in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Lubbock to accept the Donation; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to accept the Donation in order to carry out a public purpose that benefits the public interest; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby accepts for and on behalf of the City of Lubbock a donation of 906 trash receptacle carts from Betenbough Quality Homes, Inc. for the purpose of providing trash and garbage collection and removal services for citizens of the City; and THAT the City Council shall approve any expenditures required to facilitate the acceptance and use of the Donation; and THAT the City Council finds it to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock in order to expedite the performance of city business, to delegate authority to execute any necessary or related documents associated with the Donation to the City Manager of the City of Lubbock, or his or her designee.
