HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2000-O0003 - Amending Subsections 2-216(1) And 2-216(2) - 02/24/2000First Reading Second Reading Feb. 10, 2000 Feb. 24, 2000 Item No. 22 Item No. 18 ORDINANCE NO. 2000-00003 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTIONS 2-216(1) and 2-216(2) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, WITH REGARD TO THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens of ;the City of Lubbock to make the following amendment to Subsections 2-216(1) and 2-216(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Subsection 2-216(1) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: (1) Rules and regulations as to conduct of business. After public hearing, to approve such rules and regulations for the proper conduct of its business as it shall find necessary and expedient. SECTION 2. THAT Subsection 2-216(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: (2) Adoption, modification or rejection of classification and compensation plans. After public hearing to adopt, modify or reject such classification and compensation plans for firemen and policemen, together with rules for their administration, as may be recommended by the director after a thorough survey of the personnel and departmental organization of the fire department and police department. SECTION 3. THAT should any paragraph, section, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method of publication as provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED. Passed by the City Council on first reading this 10th day of February , 2000. Passed by the City Council on second reading this 24th day of February , 2000.
