HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 092833 - Peace Officers To Cooperate In Assisting Unemployed To Find Labor - 09/28/1933 Best Available Scan RE SOLUT I0Y ASYING PEACE OFFICERS TO COOPERATE IN ASSISTING UMMIPLOYED TU MTD LABOR: There came on for further consideration by the City and County Commissions in joint session the matter of asking all local peace officers to cooperate with these administrations in assist- ing the unemployed to find labor, and to urge those who are not inclined to work, if any, to either go to work or move on; and it appearing to these Commissions that there is now a demand by farmers in Lubbock and adjoining counties for labor to pick cotton and harvest feed, and that unless such demand is supplied by local labor transient people from other sections of the country will overflow this section to supply the demand for labor, and in many instances, remain here to be helped by ch-)rity orggniza.tions next winter; and it further appearing that those who have been seeking labor for many months in the past should make every effort to f ind work, and should be anxious to accept employment; therefore; It was unanimously ordered by the two Commissions in joint session upon motion by County Commissioner C.A. Bvrrus, with a second by City Commissioner John E. Roach, that we earnestly ask for and solicit the hearty cooperRtio,= of all Lubbock County Peace Officers to assist the unemployed in procuring labor, and to urge all able bodied citizens of Lubbock County to either answer the call to work or to move on, and thus prevent loafers from idling about, all members of both Qonn. issions voting "AYE" on said. motion. No further business coming up for ecnsideration upon motion by Commissioner Burrus, seconded by Zoiimissioner Roach, the meeting adj ourned.
