RE SOLUT I0Y ASYING PEACE OFFICERS TO COOPERATE IN ASSISTING
UMMIPLOYED TU MTD LABOR:
There came on for further consideration by the City and County
Commissions in joint session the matter of asking all local
peace officers to cooperate with these administrations in assist-
ing the unemployed to find labor, and to urge those who are
not inclined to work, if any, to either go to work or move on;
and it appearing to these Commissions that there is now a demand
by farmers in Lubbock and adjoining counties for labor to pick
cotton and harvest feed, and that unless such demand is supplied
by local labor transient people from other sections of the
country will overflow this section to supply the demand for labor,
and in many instances, remain here to be helped by ch-)rity
orggniza.tions next winter; and it further appearing that those
who have been seeking labor for many months in the past should
make every effort to f ind work, and should be anxious to accept
employment; therefore;
It was unanimously ordered by the two Commissions in joint
session upon motion by County Commissioner C.A. Bvrrus, with a
second by City Commissioner John E. Roach, that we earnestly
ask for and solicit the hearty cooperRtio,= of all Lubbock
County Peace Officers to assist the unemployed in procuring
labor, and to urge all able bodied citizens of Lubbock County
to either answer the call to work or to move on, and thus
prevent loafers from idling about, all members of both Qonn. issions
voting "AYE" on said. motion.
No further business coming up for ecnsideration upon motion by
Commissioner Burrus, seconded by Zoiimissioner Roach, the
meeting adj ourned.
Read and a roved this ' day of 1Q33.
