AN ORDINANCF REPEALING PART OF PAVING ORDINANCE COVERING
SOUTI? ONE-HALF OF LOTS ELEVEN TO FIFTEEN INCLUSIVE IN
BLOCK ONE HUNDRED SIXTEEN OF THE ORIGINAL TO17N OF LUBBOCK,
TEXAS.
Motion by Mr. Benson, seconded by Mr. Bacon, carried
unanimously, Ordinance No. 494 passed first reading.
Ordinance No. 494.
AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AN ELECTION IN THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK, TEXAS, TO BE HELD ON THIS 28th DAY OF JUNE,
1932, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO TIE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF SAID CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, FOR ADOPTION
OR REJECTION PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE EXISTING CHARTER
OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, DESIGNATIPG THE TIME AND PLACE
AT 7THICH SAID ELECTION IS TO BE HELD, AND APPOINTING '
PRESIDING OFFICERS THEREOF.
Motion by Mr. Bacon, seconded by -Mrs Roach., the bond of
J.C.Royalty was unanimously approved and ordered filed.
Motion by Mr. Benson, seconded b-- Mr. Bacon, the following
Resolution was unanimously adopted.
Resolution
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department of the State of 'Texas,
is desirous of constructing State Highway No. 24 through
the City of Lu' -bock over Broadway: and,
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department is desirous of receiv-
ing Federal Aid for the improvement of said highway; and,
?THEREAS, the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of
Agriculture of the United States of America will not par-
ticipate in the construction of said highway until and
unless the City of Lu' ')bock will agree to refrain f rom per-
mitting encroachments upon the right-of-way of sai d above
mentio ed streets, and until and unless the City of Lubbock
will agree to refrain from passing ordinances or laws fixing
a speed limit .of under tWenty miles per hour on said above
mentioned streets, and until and unless the City of
Lubbock will agree to refrain from erecting signs, semaphores,
and signals that will give preference to local routes or
that will hinder or delay traffic on said above mentioned
streetst
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City
of Lubbock that, for and in consideration of the State
Highway Department of the State of Texas and the Bureau of
Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United
States of America constructing said Highway No. 24 through
the City of Lubbock over Broadway it hereby agrees with
the State Highway Department of the State of Texas and the
Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of
the United States of America that it will not, in the future,
permit encroachment on the right-of-way of said above
mentioned streets: nor will it pass an ordinance or laws
fixing a speed limit oh the above mentioned streets of under
twenty miles per hour; nor will it allow the erection of signs,
semaphores, and signals that will give preference to local
routes which intersect with said above mentioned streets nor
that will slow up, hinder, or delay traffic on said above
mentioned streets; nor will it repeal or amend any of the
provisions of this resolution without the consent of the State
Highway Commissions
This is to certify that the above resolution was adopted and
passed 7t a Regular meeting of the City Commission of the
City of Lubbock on May 26th, 19'52.
