HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 060729A - Underground Concrete Reservoir Will Be Constructed If City Drills Water Well - 06/07/1929Olo0729 A R E S O L U T I O 11 WHEREAS, the City contemplates drilling and operating a permanent water well on Lots Nine (9) and Ten (10) in Block Sixty-three (63) of the Overton Addition to the town of Lubbock in Lubbock County, Texas, for the pur- pose ur-pose of supplying water to the City and its inhabitants; and, 'WHEREAS, some of the residents in the neigh- borhood of said site object thereto on the ground that the City may allow the premises or improvements thereon to become a nuisance and unsightly; and, AREAS, the City is obliged to supply the inhabitants of the town with water but at the same time is desirous of co-operating with its citizens and protect- ing them against all forms of nuisance as far as possible in the administration of its affairs: 1'IU•REFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMESS- IOii, that in the event the City does drill and operate a permanent water well on said premises the City will put in an underground concrete reservoir with walls built up high enough to keep the surface waters from flowing therein, also avoid the maintenance of an unsightly derrick or tow- er, also avoid the keeping of pipe or old iron or rubbish and also beautify the site with shrubbery and grass, all so long as the surrounding section may be used for resi- dential purposes, and use its best efforts in making the place clean and attractive. The City will not erect a standpipe on said premises. The purap house shall be constructed of con- crete, stucco or of brick,, and shall be of good appear- ance. Adopted this the 17 day of June, A.
