HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 052937A - Protest Against Eakmaking Of Works Progress Admin Funds For Relief Work - 05/29/19370529318 BE Ii' that on Saturday,, May 29 th, 1967, at a Recessed regular meeting of the City Commission of the City of Lubbock, © held in the City Hall, upon motion of Commissioner Fortenberry and second by Commissioner Price , the following Resolution was duly passed: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMd,,16SION OF THE: CITY OF LUBBOCK That we protest against the earmarking of Works Pro- gress Administration Funds in the Bill now pending before the National Congress, to appropriate money for relief work, because we believe earmarking of such funds will make it extremely dif- ficult for the City of Lubbock to obtain funds for relief work, nd to carry on such work as the City of Lubbock has been doing with ti4orks Progress Administration funds, and that earmarking of such funds will in all probability make it impossible for the City of Lubbock to secure any additional funds to complete the work the city is now doing with '�uorks rrogress Administration funds. And be it further hesolved that a copy of this Resolution be sent to Congressman George Mahon and United States Senators iv'iorris Sheppard and Tom Connelly, and we respectfully request said members of the National Congress to take such steps as they deem necessary to prevent any change in the system of handling and administering Works ProgressAdm' °stratio funds. - 'e, e , - i, ayov AT� qJ City Secretary
